Spreading Festive Cheer: Supporting Local Charities through Christmas at the Quarter

This Christmas, Wimbledon Quarter was proud to support two incredible local causes, thanks to the generosity of our community and visitors throughout the festive season.

St. George’s Hospital Charity

As our chosen charity partner for 2025, we’re delighted to share that our ice rink guests raised a brilliant £1,380 for St George’s Hospital Charity through optional donations made with ticket purchases. This record-breaking result will help support St George’s Time for a Change appeal, contributing to vital improvements for patients and staff.

Alongside this, our Wish Upon a Bauble gifting tree invited guests to take a tag, purchase a listed gift, and leave it under the tree for children on the wards at St George’s. We were thrilled to collect over 20 gift bags of thoughtful presents, helping bring some extra festive magic to young patients and their families.

St George’s Hospital Charity is on a mission to create a healthier tomorrow, working with partners to deliver outstanding care, advance research and transform hospital environments.

Through targeted grants, the charity empowers staff to identify priorities and turn ideas into action. It’s committed to tackling health inequalities head-on, supporting projects that reflect the needs of our diverse communities.

From filling hospital spaces with art and creativity to improving environments for patients, families, and staff, the charity makes a real difference every day. By funding cutting-edge research, it also drives the innovations that will shape tomorrow’s treatments and cures.

Merton Faith in Action

Our Gift of Warmth Wall was another wonderful success. Thanks to donations of coats, trousers, hats, scarves and gloves, we collected over 20 bags of pre-loved clothing, all of which were distributed to those in need and given a second life this winter.

The Gift of Warmth Wall supported Merton Faith in Action, a local charity that brings together faith groups and community partners to help those experiencing homelessness.

Their Merton Homeless Drop-in is open every Wednesday and Friday and provides around 50–60 homeless and vulnerably housed people with hot drinks, breakfast, a two-course hot lunch, internet access, advice and support from professional staff members, showers, laundry facilities, donated clothing and food parcels.

The Faith In Action Merton Winter Night Shelter also provides emergency accommodation for 12-14 people experiencing homelessness between December and mid-March. Teams of faith group volunteers, around 360 in total, provide a vital service for people across a dozen hosting venues in the borough.
