Community

Little Potters | Sustainable September

From supporting local organisations and charities to hosting events, markets and sustainable initiatives, we’re proud to play an active role in the life of the Wimbledon community.

We work closely with Merton Council, Merton Chamber of Commerce, Love Wimbledon (the local BID) and the Metropolitan Police to help support local businesses, initiatives and community programmes in the borough.

Supporting Local Community Groups

Each year we support a number of local organisations that help bring people together across Wimbledon and Merton. Some of these include:

Worple Art Group

We sponsor the Worple Art Group’s Spring and Autumn exhibitions, celebrating local artists and helping showcase the incredible creative talent within our community.

Wilton Lawn Tennis Club

Located in the John Innes Conservation Area just south of Wimbledon town centre, Wilton Lawn Tennis Club is a lively and welcoming club that we’re proud to support. We work closely with the club and partner with them during The Championships, Wimbledon, bringing the local tennis community together during one of the most exciting moments in the Wimbledon calendar.

Charity Support

Supporting charities is incredibly important to us and we work with a number of organisations throughout the year to help raise awareness and vital funds. Over the years we’ve supported groups including Home Instead, the AFC Wimbledon Foundation and many other community initiatives.

Monthly Markets at Wimbledon Quarter

We work with a local charity organisation, POPUP&, to host regular markets at Wimbledon Quarter, giving independent businesses and local makers from across Merton a platform to showcase and sell their products.

Sustainable September

We also host Sustainable September each year in partnership with Love Wimbledon and Go Inspire, a charity that supports female small businesses owners.

This month long programme celebrates sustainability across Wimbledon and Merton through a variety of engaging events including fashion shows, workshops, talks and community markets; all designed to inspire more sustainable ways of living and working.

Wimbledon Guild

One of Wimbledon’s most valued community charities, Wimbledon Guild offers practical help and support to people across Merton so no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

Whether someone is worried about finances, feeling overwhelmed, or simply looking to connect with others locally, the Guild provides a place where everyone belongs.

We support the charity throughout the year, including sponsoring events such as the Waggy Walk and Merton Live! at the New Wimbledon Theatre.

St George’s Hospital Charity

We’re proud to support St George’s Hospital Charity, which helps fund vital improvements for patients, staff and research at St George’s Hospital in Tooting.

During our winter ice rink season, the local community raised £1,380 through optional ticket donations, supporting the charity’s Time for a Change appeal.

Our Wish Upon a Bauble gifting tree also invited visitors to purchase presents for patients spending Christmas on the hospital wards. Thanks to the generosity of our community, more than 20 gift bags of gifts were donated, helping bring some extra festive cheer to patients and their families.

Through grants, research funding and creative hospital initiatives, St George’s Hospital Charity plays an important role in improving healthcare and tackling health inequalities across our communities.

Merton Faith in Action

Another initiative we loved was the Gift of Warmth Wall, held during our Christmas at the Quarter activation, supporting Merton Faith in Action, a local charity helping people experiencing homelessness.

Thanks to generous donations from visitors and businesses, we collected over 20 bags of pre-loved winter clothing, including coats, hats, scarves and gloves, which were distributed to those who needed them most.

Merton Faith in Action brings together faith groups and community partners to support vulnerable people across the borough. Their Merton Homeless Drop-in provides hot meals, advice, showers, laundry facilities and essential supplies to around 50–60 people twice a week.

The charity also runs the Merton Winter Night Shelter, offering emergency accommodation between December and March, supported by around 360 local volunteers.

The Rooftop Farm

High above Wimbledon Quarter sits one of our homegrown community projects; the Rooftop Farm Wimbledon.

What was once an unused urban space has been transformed into a thriving, sustainable garden and a hub for community engagement. From mushrooms grown on recycled coffee grounds to our much-loved beehives producing local honey each year, the farm showcases how cities can grow food in creative and environmentally responsible ways.

The farm also highlights the challenges and possibilities of urban agriculture, helping spark conversations around sustainability and the future of food in cities. You can find out more about our Farm here.
